THE EXPERIENCE 

  • A costumed interpreter  re-enacts history with you as an Awesome Anglo-Saxon

  • Identify local trees that the ancestors used and learn about countryside conservation

  • Try your hand  at the skills of archery and axe throwing 

  • Play your part in conservation of the ancient woodland and nurture or plant a tree

  • Create a weaved wooden hurdle or whittle wood into a utensil or an imaginative piece of art

  • Build a campfire for warmth and cook a forest stew and brew some woodland tea (or hot chocolate and marshmallows if you prefer)

  • Play drum and listen to story-telling of folk-lore of the ancestors awesome adventures and horrible histories around  the campfire

  • Meditate under the stars in a woodland hammock and enjoy the special atmosphere of nature

  • ​The experience will last 3-4 hours (starting in the morning 10am or afternoon 2pm) 

  • The experience takes place across a vast open field with some up-hill walking towards the woods (~1km there, 1km back).  We offer lots of opportunities for rest and to enjoy the scenery.

  • We also offer a more accessible site to people less able to manage the uphill walk

  • Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended 

  • We offer a range of activities that can be tailored for you
